How to send/update your information from your wearables device to the TrialKit mobile app
TrialKit is able to collect specific activity and health related data from your wearables device through existing health apps on your device. The data collected is dictated by the study your are participating in and can be disabled at any time.
How do I update my health and activity data in TrialKit
TrialKit will never pull health data without your explicit knowledge. In order for it to collect the applicable data, you will need to initiate it. When filling out forms, you may be prompted to update your health data with TrialKit. Here's how to do that:
- Sign in as a patient on the TrialKit app
- Tap the option to “Pull HealthKit Data”
- Tap “Save HealthKit Integration”
After doing so, the screen will display what data was sent. The app will automatically pull the previous two weeks of data. The specific activitity or health related data collected is determined by the study you are participating in.
How the data gets collected from a wearable device
A wide varitey of commercial wearables on the market are compatiable with both Apple Health and Google Fit. This allows the wearable device to share its data with the native applications available on both iOS and Android mobile devices.
If you have an iOS device, the wearable device sends its data to Apple Health app
If you have an Android device, the wearable sends its data to Google Fit. When you grant permission to TrialKit after signing in, Google Fit will be able to share that data to TrialKit.
What happens with your data when its sent to TrialKit
It is uploaded directly to the database for the study you are participating in. The Sponsor then has access to see that data, which is not attributed to your Personal Identifying information. Sponsors will use the data attributed to your anyonymous participant ID and combine it to other data collected about you in the interests of the study objectives.
